Kaben Vandrow, Son of a Chel Jeweller (m) and Kellid Adventurer (f). Never able to match the physical prowess and pure martial force of his older brothers, Kaben was a disappointment to his adventuring mother. To his father however, who matched his frame and handsome good looks he was joy. In fact Kaben’s siblings bore a striking similarity in stature to his uncle, rather than his father. It was never discussed if there had been infidelity on the part of his mother, but it was a question always at the back of Kaben’s mind when they were all gathered together.

Like his father, Kaben’s specialities revolve around a keen mercantile sense, always able to drive a hard bargain and talk people around to his way of thinking. Outside of trade deals he utilised the skills learned as a merchant, along with his keen mind and perception to find occasional work as a ‘finder’, tracking people or items within the city. To aid this side of this business, Kaben mastered the art of disguising himself and being able to melt into a crowd when he did not want to be seen. Kaben’s preference is to not allow negotiations to descend to violence, instead using his silver tongue to charm and placate, or when the circumstances require it, intimidate.

Although lean in stature, Kaben’s eyes reveal a strong presence and charisma. However when things turn ugly he uses agile and swift movements to overcome his foes, using his calculating mind to find ways to use his opponent’s strength and weight advantages against them. He will bide his time and look for the opening that will allow him to act with a lethal force. If things are not in his favour, either at the negotiating table or in a fight, Kaben is not too proud to turn tail and flee to fight another day.

It was never Kaben’s intention to become an adventurer, but as the saying goes, ‘Needs must when the demons drive’. His father had secured a lucrative contract to produce jewellery for a trading consortium based in the Alabaster District of Magnimar, one with close ties to the Aspis Consortium. With a fifty percent down payment made to procure materials, his father, Pellius, awoke to find his wife and his two youngest sons gone, along with the entireity of the deposit. Having worked with Quinta on a couple of her bounties, he signed up with her company, with the intention of raising enough funds to repurchase the raw materials for his father to fulfil the contract. The Aspis Consortium is not a faction you want to cross.
